Final Post

Well, since my trip is over, this is the final post. I wanted to leave you all with this video of the beautiful waterfall named Akaka. It's a 400 foot fall, and if you listen you can hear the sound of kids in the background. I had to listend to stupid kids all through the trip, ending with a crying baby all the way from San Francisco. Ugh! I want an airline that is child free. So enjoy the video, and Mahalo!!!!

Kona

I spent my last afternoon in Kona. It's very touristy, and most of the beaches belonged to resorts. My flight didn't leave until 10pm so I ended up going to see a movie to kill time. Here are some photos.

I'm Back

I am back home. What a great vacation. I have better internet connection at home so here is a great video of the lava flow.

Hiking and Naked Vollyball

I went hiking at the Volcano National Park. It was amazing. Here are a few pictures, there are more on the link to the right. I can't wait to get home so I can upload the videos. There don't have a lot of bandwidth here and everytime I try to upload a video it crashes. Tomorrow I'm off to my new B&B and the potluck. I get to meet more locals. I can't wait!!!

Helicopter Trip

I went on the helicopter trip today. It was very scary at first, especially with no doors. But it was amazing. I went to a few waterfalls after the helicopter trip. Check the link on the right for the photo album for the trip. I have more to add to the album, but the internet connection is so slow here it takes forever, especially the video.

Lave Flow

There are 2 guys at the B & B that are also from DC, and they drove me out to see the lava flow into the ocean tonight. I added photos to the link on the right. The iternet connection here is very slow so I will upload the videos when I get home. They are spectacular.

Amazing

Here is a video I took a little while ago of the steam from the lava going into the ocean. I went to the beach this morning and I'm going back right now. Unfortunatly, I forgot to take off my ring that Melvin gave me for Christmas and it got sucked off my finger from the waves. I'm really upset. He will be too. And there is no cell phone reception on this part of the island so I haven't told him yet.

Also, look to the link on the right for photos of the b

I woke up around 5 am and I'm sitting in my room. This is the view from my room. Can't wait to hit the beach today.

Oh, and I was in my room last night watching a movie online, and I saw a lizard crawl up the wall to the top of the shelf on the closet. It was a tiny one, I use to see them alot when I lived in Vegas, but I never saw one inside the house. I hope it stays out of my stuff!! If I disappear the prime suspect will be the lizard.

My Intellectual Reading Materials

I am taking classic literature to read on my trip. I have to read all the nasty things Madonna's brother has written about her. It's important literature. And Valley of the Dolls and Wicked. Could I get any gayer? I don't think so.

Baseball Park

Melvin at the Baseball Park

Stitch photo

I used the stitch mode on my camera to create this image.

Ball Game

Melvin's sister gave him tickets to the Nationals today, so here are some pictures and video of the day. It was hot! And the National's lost. We left after the 7th inning. But it was still fun to be there. It did get more crowded than it looks in the pictures.

Another Tour

I have book another tour. This is a walking tour in the northern part of the Island. You see some small waterfalls but the large ones are on private property and you can't access them. That's what I'm told anyway. But I'll see the big ones in the helicopter. The only thing is that the other people scheduled on this tour are a family, 2 adults and 3 kids. Oy! Why must the straights ruin everything. ;) I'm hoping maybe at the B&B they will know of a gay tour.

One Week to Go!!!!!

Can't wait. I booked a helicopter trip for next Friday with Tropical Helicopters. I will be on the helicopter without doors so I can feel the heat from the volcano. And the volcano is erupting right now. When I made the reservation, the woman on the phone told me it is the biggest eruption in ten years. (Insert your own dirty joke here). She said that even the people use to seeing the volcano are impressed with this eruption. (See news story here). I hope it stays that way until next Friday. (Another opening for a dirty joke). I'm going to take lots of pictures and hopefully will get some good video too.
